Lake Atitlan is located in Guatemala in the department of Solola. There are 3 Volcanoes on the southern edge in close proximity and the lake itself is the result of a massive explosion approximately 85,000 years ago, even today large amounts of pumice can be found on every shore. Lake Atitlan is also the deepest lake in Central America at 340 meters deep and is home to the largest concentration of indigenous Maya people in the world.
